PERU. The annual conference of the South American Duty Free Association (ASUTIL) will take place in Lima as planned on 5-9 September despite the devastating impact of the earthquake that struck the country on 15 August.
The earthquake has killed hundreds of people in Peru, injured thousands and left tens of thousands homeless.
ASUTIL yesterday issued a statement from the JW Marriott Hotel in Lima, where the event will be held.
It read: “We hereby inform all our customers and public in general, that after the earthquake that impacted Lima, Peru on Wednesday, August 15″¦ the JW Marriott Hotel Lima is in perfect and stable operational conditions that guarantee the safety to our customers in all the services that the hotel provides, such as rooms, restaurants, banquet meetings and Health Club-Spa.”
