L’OCCITANE Travel Retail has relaunched two of its best-selling Shea Butter products with enhanced formulas and improved eco-friendly packaging.
Shea Butter Hand Cream and Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream contain sustainably-sourced Shea Butter which is rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6. The hand cream’s refreshed formula now contains 96% natural-origin ingredients, while the body cream contains 95%. Both products are microbiome-friendly, sensorial and ideal for sensitive, delicate and dry skin.
The Shea Butter Hand Cream is L’OCCITANE Travel Retail’s best-selling hand cream worldwide. The hand cream’s enhanced formula now contains 20% Shea Butter alongside other natural ingredients such as honey, almond extract and coconut oil. It is packaged in a 150ml 95% recycled aluminium tube.
The hand cream is vegan and silicone-free, in line with L’OCCITANE Clean Charter, which underlines the group’s commitment to producing leave-on products with a minimal environmental impact that don’t compromise on sensoriality.
According to a recent survey by Euromonitor, L’OCCITANE en Provence was voted the world’s number one premium hand care brand. Recent annual sales figures reveal that a L’OCCITANE hand cream is purchased every two seconds around the globe, the company said.
The Ultra Rich Body Cream is packaged in a 100% recycled 200ml aluminium container. Shea Butter, which makes up 25% of the cream, is rich in antioxidants and soothes the skin while protecting it from UV rays, wind chills and cold weather.
The cream’s vegan formula is intensely moisturising and can be used on children as young as three years old. Infused with hydrating sunflower oil and glycerine, the cream is easily absorbed, leaving the skin soft and nourished. The cream is also available in a 100% recycled plastic refill that slots into the refillable aluminium container.

Cultivators of change
Shea Butter is produced from the fatty kernel nut of the Shea tree, which is native to East and West Africa. The Shea Butter used in L’OCCITANE en Provence products is sourced from trees in natural parklands free from chemicals, fertilisers and pesticides, promoting biodiversity.
Since the 1980s, L’OCCITANE en Provence has supported female Shea producers in Burkina Faso by purchasing raw materials directly from female cooperatives.
The L’OCCITANE Foundation provides female Shea Butter producers with education, training and opens the opportunity for female entrepreneurship. Through the years, the foundation has provided regular financial and social support to these cooperatives, with 42,000 women benefitting from the scheme.
By buying directly from female producers and assisting them in applying for Fair Trade Certification, L’OCCITANE en Provence helps promote traditional organic and regenerative farming methods.
L’OCCITANE Group continues to support the travel retail sector in its efforts towards sustainability by adopting a proactive, environmentally-friendly approach to products, packaging and reducing its carbon footprint, furthering its mission to create a nature-positive world.
