L’Oréal has announced it is to finalise the acquisition of Paris-based Maison de Parfum Atelier Cologne.
Founded in 2009 by partners in life as well as in business Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel, Maison de Parfum Atelier Cologne specialises in creating pure perfumes inspired by Eau de Cologne.
L’Oréal Selective Divisions President Nicolas Hieronimus noted: “Alternative perfumery is currently a high-growth segment. We are delighted to welcome the perfume house Atelier Cologne within L’Oréal Luxe. Thanks to its expertise in niche perfumery, this brand will perfectly complement the L’Oréal Luxe brand portfolio.”
Atelier Cologne claims to have created a new olfactive family: Cologne Absolue, which blends citrus with other natural raw materials. The perfumes, which are made in France, are intended to be worn by both women and men.
The Cologne Absolue product range includes soaps, shower gels, body lotions and candles.
To date, Atelier Cologne is present in over 800 points of sale in 40 countries and in online stores. There are also three stand-alone Atelier Cologne stores in France, two in the US and one in Hong Kong.
On the announcement of the acquisition plans, Atelier Cologne Founders Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel commented: “Recently our best-sellers such as Orange Sanguine, Rose Anonyme and Santal Carmin propelled us to exceed one million bottles sold since our launch. Today, another dream comes true as we join the L’Oréal Group with a shared ambition to reach new heights keeping the entrepreneurial spirit of our Maison de Parfum.
“We are delighted to benefit from the Group’s retail and digital expertise and L’Oréal Luxe’s olfactory expertise to make the brand even more successful.”
