AUSTRALIA. Lotte Duty Free today (9 October) unveiled its revamped arrivals store at Melbourne Airport, marking the completion of an ambitious phased redevelopment.

The renovation, which began in August 2024, features highly evocative interior design by Bates Smart and signage by Pigeon Ward that reflects the Victorian capital’s world-renowned laneways and vibrant street art scene.

The store extends across two sides of the concourse, with the core beauty and liquor categories presented in separate zones connected through a reflective ceiling passageway.

The sense of place is enhanced by the incorporation of red brick in the store’s liquor zone, cobbled pavements, signage lanterns and inlaid brass plaques. The beauty side comes alive with dynamic lighting and sleek concrete-render finishes.

The store design echoes Melbourne’s eclectic and vibrant street culture, an integral element of the city’s attraction to visitors and locals alike

Graffiti-inspired artwork by prominent artists Steen Jones, Tom Civil, Meggs and George Rose visually connects both sides of the store.
