MAG recruits for over 1,000 UK airport jobs

UK. In a strong hint towards sector recovery as UK travel restrictions ease, MAG – operator of East Midlands, London Stansted and Manchester airports – has begun recruiting to fill over 1,000 jobs.

The roles range from security officer roles and customer service officers to car park staff and hospitality and lounge workers.

Across Manchester and London Stansted airports alone, there are more than 500 security roles, with another 95 available at East Midlands Airport.

Major investments at Manchester Airport in recent times have enhanced the working environment for existing and potential employees

Thousands of further jobs are also available at companies operating at the three airports, including ground handlers, cleaning companies, shops and restaurants.

Those securing roles can take advantage of a wide range of benefits, MAG noted. These include discounts on public transport when travelling to work (80% off at London Stansted Airport), free on-site car parking whilst working and when going on holiday, pension scheme, training programmes, retail discounts plus many more.

MAG said that all three of its airports were experiencing a strong recovery during October and November. While that slowed slightly when restrictions were introduced in response to the Omicron COVID-19 variant, these controls were removed last week.

That has delivered a major boost to the UK travel sector, with consumer confidence rising and bookings surging in the days following the announcement. MAG observed that this has paved the way for the travel industry to recover strongly this year, especially ahead of the busy Summer season.

Green shoots of recovery: Many jobs are immediately available at London Stansted Airport, with many more to come via a major commercial expansion programme at the travel hub in the coming months. MAG Retail Director Ben Green recently revealed to The Moodie Davitt Report that there are currently 53 capital projects under development at London Stansted, all involving retail or F&B and scheduled to open by the Summer of 2022.

MAG Chief People Officer Cath Bailey said: “It’s great that our passengers have more freedom to fly, as the aviation industry resumes on its road to recovery. We always knew the sector would quickly bounce back with the easing of travel restrictions, which were relaxed this weekend.

“This means we now have hundreds of fantastic, interesting roles available to suit a wide range of people with different experience, skills and backgrounds. We encourage applications from individuals with great people skills, ambition and enthusiasm.

“Airports are a great, varied placed to work that are interesting and offer excellent potential. Our colleagues get huge job satisfaction from interacting with customers and helping to give them a great start to their holidays. This is a great opportunity to grow your career and join our friendly team at one of MAG’s busy, vibrant airports.”

A series of virtual jobs fairs will take place to promote the jobs available at each of MAG’s airports. Information on these can be found via the links below.

Pre-pandemic, MAG’s three UK airports served more than 60 million passengers to more than 285 destinations.
