MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports is promoting national culture and craft across its network in anticipation of the state’s Independence Day (known as Merdaka) on 31 August, followed by Malaysia Day on 16 September. The airport company is also playing its part in planning for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 alongside government and tourism authorities.
The Sense of Malaysia concept at KL International Airport (KLIA) offers traditional crafts and artisanal products that reflect Malaysia’s rich design heritage. These include hand-drawn batik scarves, woven songket accessories, pewterware from royal silversmiths and wood carvings.

Little Malaysia carries nostalgic snacks plus homegrown wellness and lifestyle brands while Delicacies of Malaysia features spicy sambal and belacan to traditional kuih and dodol.
Sense and taste of place
At Penang International Airport, brands such as Little Penang and Delicacies of Penang feature Penang snacks, Peranakan-style packaging and a nod to the island’s multicultural roots. Ban Heang, a well-known confectionery brand, offers tau sar pneah and other island specialities.
On the island of Langkawi, Karyaneka boutique at Langkawi International Airport highlights locally-made accessories, island-inspired gifts and designs rooted in Malaysian heritage.

In East Malaysia, Sarawak Kopitiam, located at Kuching International Airport, serves favourites like kaya toast and laksa Sarawak. Next door, Sweet Food Convenience Store offers a spread of regional snacks and sweets that represent Sarawak’s culture and flavours.
At Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Sabah’s distinct identity is echoed at Warisan Budaya, a retail outlet dedicated to indigenous crafts, textiles, and handmade keepsakes from local artisans.

Inside the Sense of Malaysia outlet, Borneo Pearls showcases jewellery made from locally sourced pearls. At the same location Kopi Ping offers strong local coffee and light bites.
