KYRGYZSTAN. Manas International Airport has invited travel retailers to partner with it in the redesign, development and operation of its duty free stores.

The airport has already set up a company – Manas Duty Free – which is the main duty free operator at the country’s major hub, near the capital Bishkek, as well as at Osh International Airport.

The new partnership will cover three lots across the two airports, although they will be awarded to a single bidder. Priority will be given to bids which are most attractive by efficiency, economy, and design style.

At Manas the two lots include areas in Terminal 1 (Lot 1) – where the retailer will have the option of selecting sites for duty free and food & beverage – and 396sq m of duty free and catering space at Terminal 2 (Lot 2). They are to open by 1 October and 1 September respectively.

At Osh Airport (Lot 3) the retailer will participate in the construction of a building joining the main terminal and VIP terminal, housing 896sq m of duty free retail space, to open by 1 December.

The winning bidder will be responsible for redesigning and reconstructing the stores (from their own funds) and other airside areas, in accordance with the single design style of passenger terminal. They will also be responsible for the operational management of Manas Duty Free.

The selected partner will take no more than a 50% stake in the Manas Duty Free subsidiary company of the JSC Manas International Airport or will conclude a contract directly with Management Company.

Bids should be submitted by 31 May to the JSC Manas International Airport. Click here to view the full Invitation to Tender document.
