Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park welcomes new restaurant

UK. The Concorde Restaurant & Coffee House has opened at Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park following a £300,000 seven-week long refurbishment.

The refurbishment, which included remodelling and a new state-of-the-art kitchen, is part of a £600,000 investment programme to upgrade the main car park, the Concorde hangar and security and event equipment.

Runway Visitor Park Manager Robert Pattison said: “It’s important for us to continue to offer excellent facilities on site so our customers can enjoy every moment of their visit to the park. With ever-increasing visitor numbers, we want to ensure every customer has the best experience possible and will continue to invest in the park. We’re really excited about the new restaurant opening; they have a brand new menu with a great selection of full meals, snacks and takeaway options and a completely new look.”

Delaware North Managing Director Doug Tetley said: “It has been a great honour for Delaware to have been involved in the creation of The Concorde Restaurant & Coffee House, which will be a fantastic addition to one of Manchester’s major tourist attractions. The work we have done has seen the restaurant completely remodelled and our improvements ensure we are able to deliver customers a new level of service.

“The new cafe is perfect for those dropping in for a quick drink while they enjoy the sensational sight of the iconic supersonic jet. And our new kitchen facilities allow us to cater for a range of occasions, offering fantastic menus whether it’s for a family on a day trip, or a conference for 400 seated under the wings of Concorde,” he concluded.

Pattison added: “We listen to all feedback received and a common observation over the last year for example was that the road leading to the car park and the car park surface itself could be better so we invested £250,000 into improving that, including better drainage. We’ve also invested £20,000 into new event equipment and £20,000 on new footpaths, pedestrian walkways and security lighting.”

According to Manchester Airports Group, more than 330,000 people visit the Runway Visitor Park every year and it is a popular venue for corporate and celebrity events, charity dinners and weddings. On 27 September Rick Astley performed at the Runway Visitor Park at The Teenage Cancer Trust ball, and on 21 September Gary Lineker hosted a charity run event at the park, supporting the Manchester Airport and British Airways Runway Run to raise money for Medcare and Sports Relief. More than £7,000 was raised.
