UK. Leading gift and souvenir retailer Glorious Britain is to introduce the iconic Marmite brand to its retail portfolio this month
The recent partnering of Marmite with Paddington Bear on UK national TV advertising provided the inspiration for producing a limited-edition travel retail gift to be sold exclusively in Glorious Britain stores.
Presented in Paddington Bear’s famous suitcase, the gift set comprises a Marmite “˜Squeeze Me’ – a handy squeezable version of the renowned savoury spread – alongside a miniature Paddington Bear soft toy wearing his classic blue duffel coat and red hat.
Customers who purchase the set, which retails at £9.99, also receive a larger Paddington Bear soft toy (RRP £9.99) free.
Since first stocking Paddington Bear merchandise 11 years ago Glorious Britain has sold over half a million of the much-loved bears.
Glorious Britain Store Manager Shaw Rodrigues said: “Customers are looking for unusual mementos when they shop with us – things that they feel are uniquely British and really represent their trip to the UK. At least once a week we would have customers desperate to get their hands on some Marmite! Marmite’s classic slogan “˜You Either Love It or You Hate It’ doesn’t really seem to be applicable here – even customers who have never tasted Marmite are keen to take a pot of this uniquely British savoury spread back with them!
“Not only have we listened to customer demand and given them what they want, we’ve packaged it up in a way that means they’re getting something completely unique at great value for money and with extra “˜Britishness’ with the addition of our best-loved teddy, Paddington Bear. This is going to fly off the shelves – the free large teddy bear alone retails at £9.99 so this is a real bargain buy,” Rodrigues added.
The limited-edition Marmite Paddington Bear travel retail exclusive will be stocked at Heathrow T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5, Gatwick North and Stansted airports and in the Windsor high street store.
