Marseille Provence Airport unveils brand new commercial offer

FRANCE. Marseille Provence Airport, with main concession partners Autogrill and Relay (Lagardère Services), inaugurated its new commercial offer on 8 April.

The €10 million-transformation includes 30 new and renovated shops and restaurants across the airport. The Moodie Report took a tour of the new facilities and enjoyed a gastronomic celebration with 200 distinguished guests at the new Chefs En Provence restaurant.

Chefs En Provence is a new 350sq m restaurant that celebrates the culinary heritage of the Mediterranean. In collaboration with Villa Chefs, a new menu is created every three months by high profile chefs; Dominique Frérard launched the first menu.

Autogrill Europe Operations Manager F&B Roberto Colombo said the aim of the new dining offer was to optimise visibility and create environments conducive to consumption. He said there was demand for more internationally recognised brands in the F&B offer. As reported, it pulled in big names such as Burger King, which re-enters the French market with the Marseilles Airport location.

Other F&B concepts include Wine-bar Beaudevin, bakery brand Brioche Dorée, coffee brand Segafredo, fresh juice concept Joosbayoo, sandwich outlet Class’croute, and global coffee franchise Starbucks. Tazio serves Italian food while Puro Gusto offers coffee, baked goods and fine foods.

The retail offer includes several Relay stores which sell books, travel accessories, snacks and drinks. New convenience concept Casino joins the offer selling more than 3000 products. Other retail stores include jewellery concept Danael and electronics store FNAC.

Marseille Provence Airport President Jean-François Brando said: “With 8.3 million passengers in 2012, Marseille Provence Airport has experienced the largest increase in traffic of the major French airports. It is, above all, thanks to our customers that we can now celebrate the end of a project that transformed and created some thirty shops and restaurants.”

Celebrating Marseille: Compagnie de Provence sells natural cosmetics inspired by the region

Découvrir La Provence, the “window of the region”, was created specially for Marseilles Airport. It sells regional fine food products and souvenirs. Compagnie de Provence features natural cosmetics and gift ideas inspired by the region.

La Cure Gourmande specialises in luxury chocolates and sweets, while OM Store sells Olympique de Marseille football club merchandise.

Retail concepts not managed by Relay include Crédit Mutuel, JCDecaux Airport, Travelex and fragrance and cosmetics brand Marionnaud.

The airport said its strategy was to provide choice for the airport’s customer profile, whether travelling for business or leisure, alone or with family.

Relay France CEO Michel Perol commented: “Based both on the experience of the Lagardère Services group in 130 airports worldwide, but also on its historical roots in the region, Relay offers Marseille Provence Airport customers a wide variety of new brands, local and international, covering a wide wealth of offers.”

Further details on the new offer will be coming soon in The Moodie Report and The Foodie Report, including interviews with Marseille Provence Airport, Autogrill and Relay.
