UK. The Board of Alpha Airports Group has announced the appointment of Martin Flower as Chairman with effect from 11 December 2006.
Flower, 60, is currently Chairman of Croda International, the specialty chemicals group, and Non-Executive Director of The Morgan Crucible Company, the specialist materials engineering company.
Until earlier this year, Flower was Deputy Chairman of Severn Trent, the leading water group. He was a non-executive director since 1996 and Senior Independent Non-executive Director since 2004.
His career to date includes 36 years at Coats, the international textiles business, in a broad range of management positions both in the UK and overseas. He was appointed Group Chief Executive in 2001 and Chairman in 2003 before leaving the company in 2004.
Peter Williams, currently Chairman and Group Chief Executive, will relinquish the chairmanship upon Flower’s appointment.
Williams commented: “We are delighted that Martin is to become Chairman of Alpha. He has a first-class track record and extensive experience both at plc board level and internationally. He will be of enormous benefit to the Board as we take the business forwards.”
