Maui Jim combines fashion and sport in new Eh Brah range of sunglasses

Maui Jim has unveiled a new line of sunglasses designed to give fashionable colour-blocking style a sporty turn.

Colour-blocking combines multiple solid colours for a simple yet dramatic effect, and Maui Jim has applied this concept to its latest El Brah range, part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

The sunglasses feature hi-tech materials and up to five different colour blocks to create a layered look in rubber, acetate and double-injected metal.

Head on, the square sunglasses, which are designed to fit small to mid-size faces, offer a touch of vintage styling; turned sideways they light up in layers of colour. The most dramatic option rims square lenses in Tortoise, on top of White, on top of Blue – all on the front of the frame. Rubberised temples feature a block with Maui Jim logo, applied over another block that is edged in a contrasting colour. The temples end with an open-holed rubber earpiece.

Other colour-ways include Light Charcoal for a summery feel, Tokyo Tortoise for a stylised horn-rimmed look, and Gloss Black as a dressier version.

Eh Brah features Maui Jim’s signature SuperThin (ST) Glass lenses that claim to be -20% thinner and lighter than conventional glass lenses. All Maui Jim lenses include nine-layer PolarizedPlus2 technology that is said to cut 100% of UV rays and 99.9% of glare from above, below and behind each lens. Maui Jim uses three rare earth elements and other treatments to white-balance its lenses, resulting in colour vibrancy, while PolarizedPlus2 technology also increases definition and depth perception.

The brand’s glasses have been recommended by The Skin Cancer Foundation as an effective UV filter for the eyes and surrounding skin.
