Maui Jim’s 36-piece stand at Beijing T3 |
US. Maui Jim Sunglasses has launched its eyewear collection at the new Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal 3 and Shanghai Pudong International T2.
At Beijing T3, the Maui Jim Sunglasses collection will feature in Sunrise Duty Free’s fashion and accessories area, which opened on 26 March. The travel retailer introduces a similar selection in Pudong this week.
Maui Jim Manager for Duty Free Sales Asia and Australia Ben Arriola said: “We are very excited to have achieved listings at Beijing and Shanghai and we look forward to launching Maui Jim Sunglasses in the Chinese market. We believe we have an excellent product to offer this diverse and increasingly sophisticated market.”
The brand recently added four new fashionable extra-large frames to its collection: Akoni, Bamboo, Kai and Topsail. Its latest two stylish additions are the Kukuna and Nalu lines, all incorporating Maui Jim’s patented PolarisedPlus2 lens technology.
Kukuna (style 353): This large rectangular frame features a split open temple design for a sharp, contemporary look. Made of Flexon, a titanium-based alloy which is more durable, flexible and lighter than conventional frames, the Kukuna comes with the Maui Evolution Neutral Grey lenses for bright sunlight and the highest available glare reduction or HCL (High Contrast Lens) Bronze lenses, which are said to offer glare protection and extra contrast on hazy days.
Nalu (style 122): This has a brushed metallic finish to the front of the frame and a wide mottled acetone temple design for a modern look. This frame is made from Alpacca, a combination of sterling silver and nickel, claimed to provide strength and durability. Nalu has SuperThin glass which is 20% thinner than conventional laminated polarised lenses, providing excellent visual clarity and scratch resistance with less weight. It is available in Gunmetal Black with Neutral Grey lenses or Espresso with HCL Bronze lenses.

Maui Jim Director of Duty Free Sales Giles Marks said: “We have now introduced a number of fashionable lines which boast the same high spec but which demand more than a passing look from the fashionable elite. These styles are hot!”
The Kukuna and Nalu models will be launched in duty free and travel retail at next week’s IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas and at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition in May (Stand number: G9).
Currently offering over 70 frames, from classic to sporty in three lens colours, all Maui Jim sunglasses are constructed in robust but lightweight materials.
