Sparkling scents: the new Betty Barclay Selection trio |
GERMANY. Mäurer + Wirtz has created a new fragrance trio from fashion house Betty Barclay. Betty Barclay Selection – which comprises three fragrances each inspired by a different jewel – will be on-counter from this month.
The precious stones represented by the three new fragrances are ruby (Rubin), sapphire (Saphir) and emerald (Smaragd). The idea is that each represents a different facet of the wearer’s personality.
Ruby is said to symbolise burning passion. Accordingly, the Rubin fragrance composition is warm and sensuous, featuring notes of bitter orange, neroli, sandalwood and musk. The colour-scheme is red.
The Saphir scent reportedly represents inner strength and calm. The juice features bergamot, lime and “ozone” notes, offset by water lily, orchid and jasmine. The flacon is coloured blue.
Smaragd (complete with green décor) symbolises joie-de-vivre and dynamism. This is expressed via notes of blackcurrant, peach, grapefruit and tuberose.
Each fragrance is available as a 15ml edt spray, a 75ml deo spray and a 200 ml shower gel.

In other news, Mäurer + Wirtz has extended its s.Oliver franchise with a new master brand, called s.Oliver Sports 1. It too will begin rolling out internationally by the end of July.
The line comprises a masculine and feminine scent, both of which combine the best of fashion and sport, according to the company.
s.Oliver Sports 1 for women is a fresh juice that features notes of pineapple, grapefruit and juniper. It is available as a 30ml and 50ml edt spray, a 75ml deo spray, a 200ml shower gel and a 200ml body lotion.
s.Oliver Sports 1 for men is described as “sportingly spicy”. It includes notes of pink pepper, nutmeg and lavender. The product line-up features 30ml and 50ml edt sprays, a 50ml after shave balm, a 150ml aerosol deo, a 75ml deo stick and a 200ml shower gel.
The colour scheme features bright, citrus shades: green for the masculine version and orange for the feminine.
