Le Bridge Duty Free: preparing to open a luxury retail outlet at Chisinau Airport in November |
MOLDOVA. Chisinau-based retailer and distributor Le Bridge Duty Free is to open four border stores on the Moldovan-Romanian frontier, plus a luxury branded store at Chisinau Airport in early November.
Le Bridge is the Moldovan importer and distributor of brands for leading suppliers such as Imperial Tobacco and British-American Tobacco, among others. The company has operated in the consumer goods industry in Moldova for more than 10 years, and has 1,400 staff.
Between the border and airport stores – which were won after a recent tender – the company will operate 2,000sq m of space, and will invest €3.5 million in its new operations. The four border posts handle 1.2 million travellers per year, while the airport handles 800,000.
A spokesman told The Moodie Report: “The luxury store at Chisinau Airport in particular will be a revolution for Moldova. It is modern and state-of-the-art. Luxury goods are still a small but growing industry in the country. We will sell all of the major duty free categories such as liquor, tobacco, watches, jewellery and perfumes & cosmetics. It will be very high-end and very different to anything else in this market. Our stores will also offer high-quality Moldovan wines as we seek to promote local and regional products.”
