UAE. New fashion and watches brand Moni Ducci is participating for the first time at this month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, aiming to create “a window of opportunity” in the duty free industry worldwide.
The brand is also offering readers of The Moodie Report who are buyers the opportunity to win a stunning men’s or ladies’ watch during the show. All you have to do is drop your business card at the Moni Ducci stand – 11B Bay Village – by noon this Thursday (22 October) and you’ll be entered into the draw.
Moni Ducci was created with travel retail as a core target. As a result the range includes a number of travel-friendly men’s accessories.
Moni Ducci was launched in Dubai Duty Free in May 2008 and three months later its watches were introduced onto Etihad Airlines. The brand is also now listed onboard Eva Airways and Qatar Airways.
Moni Ducci Travel Retail General Manager Niveen Ibrahim told The Moodie Report that the brand is launching a new range of Swiss-made watches. The retail price, aimed at an upmarket target consumer, will range from €370-€750.
“Travellers are well aware of the brands and are exposed to luxury on a daily basis,” said Ibrahim. “The most important thing for a new emerging brand is to be innovative and different. Obviously, there is no compromise on quality.
“It is very important that new fashion brands are able to attract new segments of travellers and to stand out among the very well established brands. That’s why Moni Ducci was designed with travel retail in mind.”
The brand has a strong identity and is aimed at people who have a passion for fashion and a new, fresh and eye-catching look but also appreciate value for money, she said.
Moni Ducci is also releasing a new collection of men’s fashion accessories, including cufflinks and ties. These new products will be introduced during TFWA show. A new collection of classic and casual shirts will also be launched.

BACKGROUND TO MONI DUCCI
Targeted specifically at business travellers, Moni Ducci is the brainchild of three executives, each with over 20 years international travel retail experience – Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Mohamed Mounib and Niveen Ibrahim.
All three are synonymous with Abu Dhabi Duty Free, one of the great successes of the Middle East travel retail industry of the past three decades.
Mounib spent 23 years as Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Airport Duty Free and Catering (and several months as Commercial Director of the newly formed Abu Dhabi Airports Company) before assuming the role of CEO at Pearl Azure Hotel Management & Property Company in August 2007. Sheikh Hamdan, former Chairman of Civil Aviation in Abu Dhabi [and current UAE Minister of Public Works], is the Chairman of the ambitious hotels-to-leisure company.
Niveen Ibrahim left Abu Dhabi Duty Free in late 2007 to join the same group, having worked as General Manager and Acting Commercial Director at Abu Dhabi Airports Company. Earlier she had been Business Development & Marketing Manager of Abu Dhabi Duty Free Airport Catering & Duty Free. At Pearl Azure she became Business Development Director as well as head of the company’s retail arm.
The trio formed another private company, TMMCO Ltd Commercial Agencies, to acquire the agencies for selected brands as well as creating new luxury labels. Moni Ducci was the first brand to be created.
