THAILAND. King Power International’s new downtown duty free shop in Phuket – the holiday island’s first – which had its soft opening on Tuesday, has transformed the luxury shopping offer on the holiday island as this special Moodie Report Picture Gallery shows.
As reported, King Power International spent THB4.5 billion (US$125 million) on the project, the retailer’s fourth downtown duty free store, to support two major shops in Bangkok and one in Pattaya. The Grand Opening is set for 20 December.

The 26,312sq m duty free shopping mall houses three main zones; duty free on 8,200sq m with over 100 luxury brands; Thai brand zones on two large floors of the Thai Pavilion building with premium-quality local brands; and a 1,700sq m Ramayana restaurant zone with an international buffet service for over 1,000 customers.

King Power International Co Group Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha said that the company had wanted to serve Phuket’s rising number of tourists and King Power members living in the south.
The new store, some 30k from Phuket International Airport, is located on Chao Fa West Road, King Power Phuket. The “modern yet unique” building features southern Thai architecture.
