JAPAN. At Tokyo Narita airport, international passenger numbers in November 2003 were almost on a par with those of the previous year, down just -0.17% to 2,336,388. Of that, some 1,483,260 were Japanese.
With regard to aircraft movement at Japan’s largest facility, the total number of flights reached 11,357 in November 2003, -1.65% from the previous year. Flights on routes for Southeast Asia (-4%), Pacific (-1%), Korea (-13%) and Guam (-1%) were below those seen in November 2002.
Of all routes, those for China had the biggest increase, up +7% to 1,569.
Meanwhile, at Osaka Kansai Airport, the number of total passengers reached 1,239,772 in November 2003, -8.77% compared with the same month the previous year, and an improvement over the -9.85% figure reported in October. Of that, passengers flying on international routes totalled 814,600, down -3.83% from a year earlier.
