Nat Sherman achieves Legendary repackaging – 06/06/05

US. Upscale New York-based tobacco products specialist Nat Sherman has repackaged its Legendary Cigars into a gift box that opens out to reveal eight cigars complete with an in-built humidification unit.

“We see cigars as a gift item. We are targeting not just the traditional cigar smoker but also the people who want to buy cigars as a gift,” Vice-President Bill Sherman told The Moodie Report during the TFWA Singapore show, where the company was showing for the first time.

The box of Legendary Cigars contains two each of four different blends of hand-made super-premium cigars, from mild to full-bodied, including Dominican Republic and Honduran fillers. It is targeted at airport duty free stores and retails at US$60.

The Metropolitan Quartet comprises a wooden box containing two each of two different cigars. The retail price is US$34. Nats Cigarillos have also undergone a repackaging makeover. The brand used to be displayed in 10 x 10 units but is now available in 5 x 10 units, carrying a retail price of about US$40-45.

In Asia Pacific, Nat Sherman is listed at retailers including Dimensi Eksklusif, Eraman and King Power.

Nat Sherman also produces cigarette brands Fantasia and Black Gold. The packaging reflects the company’s New York heritage – the company’s flagship store is on Fifth Avenue.
