“New depths of taste” – Cutty Sark unveils 17 Year Old premium blend with virtual tasting event

The expression unites whiskies matured in sherry, Port and bourbon casks to deliver a rich, layered taste profile

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet has introduced Cutty Sark 17 Year Old, a premium expression that builds on the brand’s century-long spirit of adventure. The release was previewed during a virtual tasting event on 9 October, attended by The Moodie Davitt Report Brands Director Hannah Tan.

It is being rolled out in Europe and Asia Pacific, and across Americas travel retail in 2026.

Cutty Sark 17 Year Old is crafted from whiskies matured in three distinct cask types. The blend combines hand-selected malt whiskies aged in sherry and Port casks with fine-grain whisky matured in bourbon casks. The result is a layered profile that adds richness and depth to Cutty Sark’s signature smoothness.

Tasting notes include candied orange, cherries and plums on the nose, followed by oak, cappuccino and subtle spice on the palate.

Presented in an elegant black gift box, the expression features gold lettering and the brand’s signature yellow detailing, complemented by nautical design elements, such as a rope and eyelet motif and a rope-effect stopper.

The packaging reinforces the brand’s maritime heritage while enhancing its appeal as a collectible item.

“Bold, fruity and spicy, our 17 is an ocean of complexity, just waiting to be explored” – Cutty Sark Master Blender Stephen Woodcock

Cutty Sark Master Blender Stephen Woodcock said, “Cutty Sark has always been a whisky for those seeking adventure – and Cutty Sark 17 is a sumptuous voyage into new depths of taste.

“To create this rich blend, we first selected fine, aged Highland and Speyside single malts, and married them together for 17 months in hand-picked sherry and Port casks. Then we united those malts with Lowland grain whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, for exceptional creaminess.

“Bold, fruity and spicy, our 17 is an ocean of complexity, just waiting to be explored.”

La Martiniquaise-Bardinet International Senior Brand Manager Manon Brochet said, “We’re thrilled to be sharing Cutty Sark 17 with the boldest whisky fans around.

“Born from our pioneering spirit, this whisky stands out for its complex character, exceptional quality and packaging. It is an ideal gift for every whisky connoisseur with adventure in their DNA.”
