GERMANY. German toy brand Nici is set to unveil the new Rock Star Baby collection in Spring 2008, designed by Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres.
The Rock Star Baby collection by Nici is designed to capture the “soft side” of the rock and roll lifestyle and will feature plush figures and accessories for babies, small children and adults. It will also include cushions, bags, suitcases and travel luggage, stationery and gifts.
A character developed solely by Nici for this brand, the rocking rat, was premiered in Cologne at Messe Kind und Jugend, an international trade fair for children and youth held from 13 to 19 September.
The collection based around the rocking rat will retail from April 2008. The whole concept will be presented at the international toy trade fair in Nuremburg in February 2008.
“The Rock Star Baby licence is a further milestone on the way to internationalisation and categorisation of our company. With Rock Star Baby by Nici we are building up a completely new product world for babies, small children and adults,” said Nici Head of Marketing & Communication Uwe Klimach.
“In the scope of the collaboration with Bon Jovi Drummer Tico Torres, the creator of Rock Star Baby, further projects are planned as well as a constantly growing product portfolio. Rock Star Baby gives us the opportunity to present the Nici brand in a completely new environment, the potential to make the most of the brand and conquer further markets,” added Klimach.

Tico Torres developed the Rock Star Baby clothing collection so that children of “rebel rock fashionistas” could imitate their parents’ style of dressing. The fashion line for children features extravagant baby clothes and trendy accessories.
The Rock Star Baby collection is available in South Korea, the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, Scandinavia, the UK, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. It will launch in Germany this Autumn.
