Joint effort: Novo Ivc and Wingspeed Corporation provide inflight credit card authorisation |
IRELAND. Novo Ivc and Wingspeed Corporation today announced that they have developed a joint solution to provide inflight credit card authorisation to airlines.
The solution, which leverages the Wingspeed XFIA communications and computing platform and the Novo Ivc Point-of-Sale system, will allow airlines to conduct real-time inflight credit and debit card authorisations. It will also allow them to conduct transactions using the airlines’ loyalty programme cards.
Together this will open up an array of revenue opportunities for the airlines, the companies said in a joint statement.
“The solution will address a need that the market has clearly articulated to us and will bring a number of significant benefits,” said Novo Ivc Managing Director Tim Clifford. “It will mean lower bank charges, reduced fraud and the opportunity to offer higher value goods for sale onboard, and together these benefits represent a compelling return on investment.”
“We are excited at partnering with Novo Ivc who are an industry leader in the provision of Point-of-Sales systems to the aviation industry as demonstrated by their extensive client list of leading airlines,” said Wingspeed Director of Sales in Europe Ciaran Bernard.
“This joint solution demonstrates the key benefit of the Wingspeed XFIA architecture, and that is an extensible communications and computing platform that can host a range of applications from electronic charting for pilots to real-time credit card authorisation for the cabin.”
The joint Wingspeed and Novo Ivc solution comprises
• Wingspeed XLLink Aircraft Communications Unit
• Wingspeed XLLink Network Server Unit
• Cabin Wireless LAN Unit
• Novo Ivc Falcon POS
Wingspeed and Novo Ivc expect to have the first aircraft in revenue service with the joint solution later this year.
