Cairns Port Authority CEO Brad Geatches said: “It’s an exciting time for Cairns International Airport. Nuance is a strong brand. They are a trusted duty free partner and our anchor retail store at Cairns International Airport, so we are pleased to be taking this step with them.”
The Nuance Group CEO Australia and New Zealand Christian Strang said: “Our partnership with Cairns Port Authority (CPA) is highly valued and long standing. CPA management has a very forward thinking and sound commercial approach to retailing at the airport which makes this business opportunity very valuable to both parties.
“Nuance is committed to bringing its global insights and expertise to the development of the new facilities. The result will be a world class duty free store. It will be a great experience and a benefit for passengers using this airport.”
The contract extension and duty free development is the second major announcement by Cairns Port Authority this week. Earlier today it revealed a major expressions of interest for specialist retail, food & beverage and other passenger services.
Geatches added: “The face of Cairns International Airport will change over the next few years. We have invested much time and money to ensure we give passengers and visitors exactly what they are looking for.”
New fit-outs incorporating new merchandising concepts will capitalise on the improved passenger flows and sight lines to be delivered by the new walk-through store which is being planned for development jointly by CPA and Nuance.
“The pending development shows our commitment to travel retail and the success of our airport concessionaires,” Geatches concluded.
