,b>SINGAPORE. Nuance-Watson Singapore has added Artisan & Artist, a specialised makeup tools and accessories label from Japan, to its portfolio of 120 international beauty brands at Changi Airport.
What started out in the early 1980s as a quest to find the perfect pouch by now Artisan & Artist founder, CEO and resident designer Seiichiro Hangui has led to an improvement of the overall design and functionality of this product category.
Barneys New York commissioned Hangui to design a customised series of pouches, and in 1996, the company’s offer grew to include professional makeup tools. 1999 was the year for Artisan & Artist when major cosmetics/fashion labels such as Armani, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Paul & Joe and L’Oreal, started to request for customised designs for their brands, Nuance-Watson said.
Artisan & Artist is currently on counter at the travel retailer’s Perfumes & Cosmetics mega store at Changi Airport Terminal 2 after immigration. The product assortment includes makeup pouches and makeup brushes, and prices range from S$39 (US$29.90) for an eyebrow brush to S$103 (US$78.90) for a 100% goat hair cheek brush.

Nuance-Watson Singapore Senior Category Manager Chillie Por said: “We aim to bring in products that will cater to the diverse needs of the Changi passengers. Our 22 Perfumes & Cosmetics stores serve over 5,000 customers on any given day; hence it is an excellent launch pad for new and upcoming brands.
“A niche brand such as Artisan & Artist may still be relatively unknown to some, but given its strong credentials and brand recognition amongst the makeup professionals, as well as quality product assurance, we are willing to give it a try. We aim to bring in more of such labels and we believe such a formula helps to generate loyal customers.”
