CHINA. Orient King Power Travel Retail Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of the Antares Cheng-run King Power Group (Hong Kong), has been awarded the concession to operate the landside and domestic terminal stores at Shanghai Pudong Airport. The contract is for seven years and begins on 1 January 2007.
The total area is 991.5sq m, of which 429sq m is airside, and 562.5sq m is landside. The categories include duty and tax paid cigarettes, liquor, fragrances and cosmetics, fashion, accessories, luggage, costume jewellery, electronics, pens, lighters, watches, eyewear, toys, packaged food, soft drinks, Chinese Tea and Chinese silk products.
King Power Duty Free and Travel Retail Managing Director Sunil Tuli said: “The domestic and landside business in China at the airports is an important part of our expansion strategy, and we are very pleased to have got this contract at this very important airport. We are currently in negotiations with brands and are inviting them to participate in this business with us.”
