USA. Travel restaurateur and master developer OTG has revealed initial designs for its ambitious commercial offer to be unveiled at Newark Liberty Terminal C. As reported, the company plans to transform the airport experience with a host of innovations over the coming year.
OTG and United Airlines are working with prominent design partners including The Rockwell Group, Creme Designs, David Mexico Design Group and Parts and Labor Design NYC.
OTG will invest US$120 million in its first ever location as master developer, bringing more than 55 dining locations and 6,000 iPad installations to Newark – the biggest customer-facing deployment of iPads anywhere in the world. It has partnered with 24 internationally and regionally acclaimed chefs -including four with Michelin stars – on the project.
The full offer will be introduced in phases over the next eighteen months, with the first permanent concepts to open in Summer.
Among the first to open will be the Oases concepts in the centre of the concourse, while at the Global Bazaar, concepts will change throughout the day. The renderings of the Lobby Bar illustrate how it will set the tone of the entire airport experience, according to OTG.
United Airlines Vice President of Corporate Real Estate Kate Gebo said: “United Airlines is taking one of the nation’s most modern airport terminals, and making it even better. These plans reinvent the way travellers dine and shop at Terminal C at Newark Airport, incorporating exceptional food, beverage and retail services with updated gate areas and customer-friendly technology features.”
OTG CEO Rick Blatstein said: “The United Experience at Newark Liberty will be a world-class setting that combines beautiful spaces with cutting-edge technology and some of the finest dining options anywhere. We view travel as a lifestyle, and our mission is to treat the airport itself as an experience, and more than just a place travellers pass through on their way to somewhere else.”
