AUSTRALIA. Confectionery supplier Paton’s is registering success for its chocolate-covered macadamia nuts in India, building on its travel retail presence across Asia Pacific.
Souvenir design packages released in late 2007 and featuring images of the Taj Mahal, Rajasthan and Indian elephants have proved popular at Delhi and Cochin Airports.
Paton’s has also signed an agreement with Nuance India to supply Hyderabad and Bangalore International airports.
“The Taj Mahal box is our number one seller, followed respectively by Patons’ Dark Chocolate Macadamia Royals and Milk Chocolate Macadamia Royals,” said General Manager Sales and Marketing James Kfouri.

“The souvenir boxes are designed with the market in mind, through a collaboration between Paton’s and the clients, while the Royals collections enjoy brand popularity internationally.”
During last week’s TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition in Singapore, Paton’s showcased its new toffee-roasted hazelnuts, a line extension to its Royals collection. The milk chocolate-coated nuts are available alongside the other Paton’s Macadamia Royals and Paton’s Almond Royals and presented in 200g foil-embossed gift boxes.
“During the past 28 years we have enjoyed a great relationship with the key retailers in Asia, and as we are now exploring new markets in China and the region we are excited to have a full Royals collection with three types of nuts,” Kfouri stated.
Kfouri added that inflight sales are booming for routes out of Australia, in particular with Qantas and Emirates.
