Perth Airport serves up diet of delight with new food & drinks offer

AUSTRALIA. Perth Airport has delivered what it called “another transformation milestone” with the completion of a new 760sq m food & beverage area at Terminal 1 (T1) International.

The centrally located dining area is part of the Western Australia gateway’s A$1 billion (US$720 million) redevelopment. It houses a range of quality dining outlets that are part of a wide-ranging programme to greatly improve the customer experience.

“We have focused on providing the best local produce and incorporating the latest food trends to appeal to all of our visitors – from premium wines and boutique beers, to favourites from around the world,” said Perth Airport Executive General Manager, Commercial Services, Scott Norris.

Passengers can relax in a comfortable, central location with friends and family before progressing though immigration and security screening.

“The new, centrally located dining area provides a casual environment for travellers on the move, as well as areas designed to accommodate those who may want to spend more time relaxing before a flight,” Norris said.

“An important consideration in selecting our new food & beverage operators was providing customers with choice, value and quality.”

Customers can sample a local craft beer or one of Western Australia’s fine wines in “an urban and edgy setting”, Long Neck bar and restaurant. The outlet is owned by well-known executive chef Chris Taylor in partnership with Red Rock Leisure, and offers tapas-style dishes.

“As a chef and operator of leading establishments, it’s been a natural progression to extend our offering to Perth Airport,” Taylor said. “To be able to offer regional and branded produce to both local and international travellers in a new, crisp and well-designed environment has been an exciting process.”

“We are thrilled to be extending our partnership with Perth Airport into T1 International,” said Kieran Fitzpatrick, Chief Operating Officer at Delaware North, which operates two of the latest concepts – Guzman Y Gomez and Harvest. The concessionaire runs a range of local and international food & beverage offerings across all Perth Airport terminals.

“We have a clear objective – to deliver authentic culinary concepts together with exemplary customer service, to ensure that we play a successful part in creating the most positive experience of Perth and Western Australia for departing local and international guests.”

Construction of the final two projects at T1 International has commenced, and passengers and visitors to the airport will be able to enjoy a spacious 27m landscaped forecourt plaza. This will feature two new food & beverage outlets that can be accessed from both inside and outside the terminal, plus a range of speciality stores.
