The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to bring you the latest edition in our Pet-sonality Profile column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
In this regular fun feature, we discover more about travel retail pet-sonalities, their back stories, traits and habits, as well as offering some insights into their owners. Each pet-sonality will also be painted digitally by pets and equine artist Sami Moodie.
In this edition, *Parfums Christian Dior Travel Retail Asia Pacific Digital Manager Bernice Neo introduces her sweet Kaya.
Name + nickname: Kaya
Breed: Golden Retriever
How old? Kaya is three.
How did you meet? My husband and I had been searching for a dog and finally met this doe-eyed puppy at the local pet shop. She had just arrived from Ireland.
We kept going back to see her for the next three weekends and she was always there. We decided she was meant to join us.
Love at first sight? 200%
Quirky habits? Kaya has a bedtime routine: last walk for the evening, brush down, followed by a treat. If we give her the treat earlier, it doesn’t count, and she will demand another one before bed.
She will then prompt you to switch on the air conditioner and settle outside of the room. Moments later, she will ask to be let into the room. But only if the temperature is right. If it isn’t, she will continue to wait.
Funniest and/or nicest moment? Kaya recently donated blood to another dog. Before we left the clinic, she walked us back to the room where the dog was receiving the transfusion and looked at him.
It was almost as if she was telling him: you got this buddy, feel better soon.
Favourite trick? Kaya is named after the popular kaya jam (coconut, eggs, sugar) that is widely known in Southeast Asia.
And here in Singapore, we have a local breakfast delight: kaya toast. That’s toasted bread with butter and kaya. On the command ‘Kaya, toast!’, our Kaya knows how to roll over.
Social media account? @kayacreme documenting her sassy antics.
If Kaya could talk what would be her first words? That’s easy: “Hello human. What’s for breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea, dinner, and supper?”
Her favourite airport/airline: Changi Airport, for that feeling that we’re departing for an adventure and arriving home, and Zürich Airport where there is a trail near The Circle that is just perfect for an after-flight stretch.
The airline has to be our own Singapore Airlines; we and Kaya love the hospitality the moment you step onboard.
Anything else we should know? Dog ownership is hard work, and a whole lot of fun and laughter. One of my favourite quotes is from Andrew Muse (@andrew__muse): “The funny thing about giving your dog the best life you can imagine is you end up living your own.”
