Want to talk about your pet subject?*If you would like to feature (with your pet) in a forthcoming edition of this regular column, please contact Colleen Morgan at Colleen@MoodieDavittReport.com |
The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to bring you the latest edition in our Petsonality Profile column, in association with Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
In this regular fun feature, we discover more about travel retail pet-sonalities, their back stories, traits and habits, as well as offering some insights into their owners. Each pet-sonality is also painted digitally by pets and equine artist Sami Moodie.
In this edition we meet Peuch & Besse* Business Development Advisor Rajiv Bhatia and his fun-loving Fox Red Labrador Poppie.
Name and nickname: Poppie but she is also called Pops for short.
Breed: Poppie is a Red Fox Labrador.
How old is she? She will celebrate her second birthday later this month, on 26 June.
How did you meet? Sadly, we lost our first-ever family dog, a gorgeous Golden Labrador named Phoebe, unexpectedly in July 2022. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in our TV room. That was a huge shock to us all and while I was not at all keen on getting a new dog immediately my wife and (four) kids convinced me otherwise. It took some arm twisting but who was I to say no?
By happy coincidence, a friend of the family had a Labrador and she’d just delivered a litter of nine puppies. And when we saw Poppie, what can I say? It was love at first sight.
Does Poppie have any quirky habits? She likes to put two toys in her mouth at the same time and that can be a combination of tennis balls and/or footballs. She also enjoys riding ‘shotgun’ in the front seat of my daughter’s car.
Funniest and/or nicest moments? One has to be when my dear wife left the kitchen to answer the front doorbell. In a matter of seconds, the marinated chicken breasts meant for our supper had disappeared.
Poppie also loves to cuddle up in a ball next to us in bed!
Favourite trick? And treat? She loves to run and fetch tennis balls in a field near our house. Thankfully, we use a ‘wanger’ ball thrower, which sends them quite a distance. Poppie keeps returning the ball and expects you to continue throwing until she is finally exhausted. Then she leaves whoever is playing with her to go and pick up the ball wherever she has left it.
Her treat is not connected with food. Sometimes she is allowed to sleep in our bed with her head on the pillow, almost like a person.
Social media account? No, Poppie does not have her own but is very active on all the family accounts.
If Poppie could talk what would her first words be? That’s easy, where’s the chicken?
Favourite Airport/Airline? Poppie hasn’t travelled by air, yet. That said, she is a very regular companion in the car journey to Edinburgh Airport when I am being dropped off or picked up from my travels.
Anything else we should know? Poppie is in her element chasing after ducks on the River Tweed or deer in our local woods, with no hope in hell of ever catching them. She also loves to ride in the horse lorry with my wife and daughter to various horsey events.
