MALAYSIA. Plaza Premium Lounge Management this week inaugurated what it hails as Malaysia’s largest commercial and pay-in lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The opening ceremony, which took place on 18 September, was officiated by Malaysia Airports Managing Director Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid, Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager – Operation Services Dato’ Azmi Murad, Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager – Commercial Services Faizah Khairuddin, and Plaza Premium Lounge Management Founder and CEO Song Hoi-See.
The event was attended by key representatives from the aviation and tourism industry and over 200 guests. They were treated to an array of cuisine as well as kompang and bagpipe performances, alongside a three-piece jazz band.
Guests were given a chance to try signature dishes from the lounge, such as the mutton curry, basmati rice and Hakka pan mee noodles, as well as the newly introduced Java coffee from the barista-manned coffee station. Guests were also offered a trial of the seated-massage service.

During the ceremony, Song, a Malaysian-born entrepreneur, said that it was particularly meaningful for him to unveil his international lounge concept here in Kuala Lumpur, and it is his wish to make KLIA one of the best airports in the world. Adding that the first Plaza Premium Lounge was opened in KLIA 14 years ago, he expressed his pride in being the first to bring this pay-per-use lounge concept to the world.
According to Song, this fourth-generation lounge concept is a culmination of years of listening to and observing the customers, a project spearheaded by him and designed by renowned Hong Kong interior designer Kinney Chan. The concept is tailored to the needs of travellers in hopes of enhancing the airport service quality of KLIA.
“We are very pleased to be partnering Plaza Premium Lounge to provide our travellers with the value-added services they expect from a first-class international airport such as KLIA,” said Tan Sri Bashir. “This renovated luxurious lounge will further strengthen our position as a lifestyle airport in the region with its offerings of top-notch facilities and services akin to a five-star hotel.”
Khairuddin added: “A tedious flight wait doesn’t have a place in KLIA with Plaza Premium Lounge. With the Plaza Premium Lounge, passengers travelling through KLIA can look forward to a five-star waiting experience, and are able to indulge and unwind at the airport before boarding the plane, away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd.”
Located at C11 of the Satellite Building, the 7,500sq ft luxury airport lounge is open to both business travellers and leisure travellers. Its value-added facilities include spacious sofa seating, shower facility, business centre, workstation, VIP room, massage services and all-day food & beverage selections.
