Pola Orbis today (1 January) launched B.A Grandluxe IV in Chinese travel retail.
The bio-active beauty serum comes in a 50g bottle partially made from plant-derived polyethylene terephthalate.
The product packaging features bio-based ink on sustainable paper. Instead of a paper brochure, the box includes a QR code that consumers can scan to browse ingredients and directions for use.
The packaging applies the ancient Japanese art of ‘wrapping by folding’ complemented by a textured surface and an unfinished shape. The hand-wrapped folding method minimises wastage of material.
The bio-active serum has a floral woody scent featuring notes of bergamot, lily of the valley and musk.
Pola remarked on the launch: “We’ve researched the cycle of skin cell growth for decades and we’ve discovered a new way to rejuvenate your skin while you rest.”
B.A was created in 1985 and the first generation of B.A Grandluxe was launched in 2006. It has continued to evolve as the Pola brand serum, which acts as an emulsion based on ‘B.A Bio-Active Theory’.

B.A Grandluxe IV proposes “to broaden individual potential to a new dimension by experiencing the essence of life”. Original beauty ingredients from Pola’s three main brands are incorporated in this serum.
B.A focuses on the ‘cycle of beauty’ created from the continuity of rest and activity.
The brand noted: “We reevaluated the importance of rest time, which is often taken for granted, and proceeded to develop a product which achieves a cycle that continues to enhance beauty from the continuity of rest and activity.”
The Grandluxe IV contains Pola’s new moisturising complex, Southern cattail G0 Extract and Bounce Reflect Formulation. The formulation releases moisture at different times by incorporating slow carriers that gradually release ingredients post application. ✈
