“Prized possessions”: Walsh Whiskey releases The Irishman Vintage Cask 2020

Walsh Whiskey has released the 2020 edition of The Irishman Vintage Cask, the company’s series of rare cask-strength Irish whiskey expressions.

The Irishman Vintage Cask 2020 is the 12th edition since the range debuted in 2008 when the first triple-distilled cask-strength Irish whiskey in over half a century was released. This year’s vintage is limited to 3,500 bottles, with 630 of these available in travel retail across Shannon and Dublin airports.

Walsh Whiskey Founder Bernard Walsh said: “Our Vintage Cask Strength releases are much sought after. So, with just 3,500 bottles worldwide, they will be prized possessions for whoever secures one.”

The Irishman Vintage Cask comes from a marriage of aged single pot still whiskey and single malt that has been matured in first-fill bourbon casks, non-chill filtered and cut to 55.2% ABV. The recommended retail price is €130/US$140. Each bottle is presented in a numbered wooden case that has been dated and signed by Walsh.

Tasting notes: A creamy walnut nose gives way to a taste of stone fruits, nutmeg, honey blossom and fig. The whiskey then has a rich, full-bodied finish.
