Qatar Duty Free lends support to Commercial Bank Qatar Masters golf event

QATAR. Qatar Duty Free has been named as an official partner of the Commercial Bank Qatar (CBQ) Masters Golf tournament 2019, which takes place at the Doha Golf Club from 7-10 March. The retailer has supported the event since 2009.

The retailer’s links with golf sponsorship also include its lead sponsorship since last year of the annual TFWA Golf Tournament at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes.

This week’s tournament will see 144 professional golfers compete, including 2018 Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, two-time Qatar Masters winner Paul Lawrie, as well as two of Qatar’s most promising players, Saleh Al Kaabi and Jaham Al Kuwari.

Qatar Duty Free is also the official sponsor of the Hole in One competition, which will award its winner a US$155,000 voucher to be redeemed at Qatar Duty Free. The company will offer visitors a chance to test their golf skills at a themed booth in the entertainment village.

Bruce Bowman: The tournament aligns with the 2030 vision of Qatar to become a leading sports destination.

Together with photo opportunities and a live screening of the tournament, visitors will have a chance to win a selection of luxury products from Qatar Duty Free brands and boutiques at Hamad International Airport, including the recently-opened Qatar Airways Travel Boutique.

As reported, The Trinity Forum, the world’s most influential airport commercial revenues conference, will be held in Doha in 2019, the first time the event has been hosted in Qatar.

The Forum, a joint venture between The Moodie Davitt Report, ACI World and ACI Asia-Pacific, will be hosted by Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar Airways and Qatar Duty Free (QDF) and will take place in Doha on 30-31 October.
