Qatar Duty Free partners with MasterCard in major retail promotion

The latest Qatar Duty Free campaign is helping to drive penetration, average basket size and spend


QATAR. Qatar Duty Free has teamed up with MasterCard for its “˜Hot Summer, Cool Offers’ retail promotion at Doha International Airport, which runs from July to September.

Qatar Duty Free is offering all its customers a chance to win one of three grand prizes when making purchases of US$150 or more. The grand prize package includes: One Business Class return ticket to Doha on Qatar Airways, full board and hotel accommodation for two nights in the Oryx Rotana Hotel and a US$20,000 Qatar Duty Free shopping voucher.

In addition to the grand prizes, MasterCard cardholders making purchases at Qatar Duty Free will also receive a “˜Scratch and Win’ card for instant gifts as well as doubling their chances to win one of the three grand prizes.

The instant Scratch and Win prizes for MasterCard holders include tickets for the 1 Million Dollar Qatar Duty Free raffle, Samsung Netbooks, mobile phones, gold coins and travel accessories, plus other gifts.

“Qatar Duty Free is one of the Middle East’s most outstanding success stories in recent years and we are happy to record our consistent robust sales growth of over +20% for the past six months,” said Senior Vice President Keith Hunter.

“An annual summer promotion is something that our customers look forward to. The current promotion kicks off a range of initiatives, and we are delighted to offer our shoppers even more promotions and value for money offers.”

The promotion has already seen a Greek national winning the July grand prize. “I am very excited about flying down to Doha in the five star comforts of Qatar Airways, staying for two nights and shopping for US$20,000 on the way back to Athens” said the winner, a Mr Dimitrios.
