Radico Khaitan and Delhi Duty Free partner in Rampur Trigun whisky launch

INDIA. Indian drinks company Radico Khaitan has partnered with Delhi Duty Free to launch a travel retail-exclusive Rampur Trigun single malt whisky.

The expression will roll out globally to selected retailers, including Dubai Duty Free, over the coming months.

Rampur Trigun takes its name from an Indian word for ‘harmony of three’, as the expression is matured in three different types of casks. The liquid is first matured in American Bourbon barrels to echo the profile of an Indian Summer. It is then transferred to Champagne casks – to add a layer of freshness – before being finished in Sauternes barrels from Bordeaux to give a citrussy hue and fruity aromas.

Radico Khaitan President of International Business Sanjeev Banga said: “We are very proud of our Indian heritage and are excited to bring the essence of the state of Rampur to discerning consumers in travel retail with the new Rampur Trigun.”

Rampur Trigun is said to combine fruity aromas with sweetness on the palate coming from its balanced maturation. One the nose it offers hints of apricot, lychee, pear and mango, with tastes of vanilla and a long finish.

Each bottle is presented in a blue and gold drum with a silk pouch to reflect India’s style and heritage.

With a 59% ABV, Rampur Trigun (75ml) has a recommended retail price of US$200.

One of India’s largest spirits companies, Radico Khaitan (formerly known as Rampur Distillery) was established in 1943 and is one of the oldest manufacturers of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the country.

Three of its distilleries are based in Uttar Pradesh in the foothills of the Himalayas. Its Rampur Trigun whisky is distilled in traditional copper pot stills in the country’s oldest distillery, with production overseen by Master Blender Anup Barik.
