Ray Savage leaves Birmingham International Airport role to join UK group RoadChef – 06/03/08

UK. Birmingham International Airport Head of Market Development Commercial Ray Savage is leaving the company next month to join UK group RoadChef as Commercial Director.

He leaves on 25 April after almost 10 years at Birmingham Airport. Before that he worked for three years as a General Manager with Granada on its motorway catering business. That followed a seven-year period working with Allders International (now Nuance) in airports including London Heathrow and Luton, as well as two and a half years as General Manager for Allders’ ships division.

At RoadChef Savage will work closely with Simon Turl, who was previously Managing Director of SSP Airports UK.

Savage said: “I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Birmingham, it has been a great job and a fantastic experience. I believe that I have achieved what I set out to do and the opportunity at RoadChef will enable me to harness both the commercial and operational skill sets that I have developed over the years.

“I leave behind a super and professional team of individuals. Recruitment for my replacement has started and I am hoping that an announcement of whom the successor is will be made by the end of March.”
