Registration opens for inaugural AAA Retail & Commercial Forum

AUSTRALIA. Registration has opened for the inaugural Airport Retail and Commercial Forum.

As announced, the Australian Airports Association (AAA) has partnered with The Moodie Davitt Report (TMDR) and The Mercurius Group (TMG) to deliver its first stand-alone event for the airport retail and commercial sectors.

To be held on the Gold Coast on 20-21 July, the Forum offers the industry the opportunity to celebrate its resilience through a deeply challenging two years and critical wayfinding to coming back stronger than before.

The Forum has already attracted strong support from senior airport commercial executives, duty free retailers, food & beverage providers, and brands. They will be joined by their business partners from specialty retail, car parking, car rental, ground transport, advertising, property and hotels and other enterprises which are focused on delivering non-aeronautical revenue success at airports.

A preliminary programme for the event plus full registration information is available here.

In March, the conference organisers announced that they were pioneering a new sponsorship approach.

Rather than seeking the typical platinum/gold/silver/bronze style sponsorships, industry support panels have been created. These allow multiple players in a sector to support the event individually and collectively in a cost-effective manner and show industry-wide solidarity for the recovering travel retail channel.

The industry support panel concept kicked off in the duty free sector and was quickly embraced by four of the major players – DFS, Dufry, Heinemann Australia and Lagardère AWPL.

Six major F&B operators in the Australasian airport market – Airport Retail Enterprises, Cater Care, Delaware North, Emirates Leisure Enterprises, HMSHost International and SSP – announced their support for the upcoming event earlier this month.

The Moodie Davitt Report is inviting submissions for the FAB Superstars Awards 2022.

This second virtual edition of the awards will again shine the spotlight on the thousands of front-of-house and behind the scenes heroes and heroines who have helped keep the food & beverage community within our industry going throughout the challenges of the last year.

In addition, this year’s awards include an important new category, the FAB ESG Awards, which have been introduced to celebrate, recognise and reward those people and initiatives that have made a positive impact in the areas of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

The FAB ESG & Superstars Awards will be presented on Tuesday 13 September to conclude the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference 2022, which is taking place on 12-13 September during The Moodie Davitt Report Virtual Travel Retail Week.

They will recognise and reward the achievements of travel retail employees across airport, airline, downtown store and cruise sectors, and celebrate the strength of the human spirit, resourcefulness and ingenuity in our industry.
