SOUTH KOREA. Korean Air, the world’s most successful inflight retailer, generated US$200 million in duty free sales for 2010, up by around +18% over a difficult 2009 (the figure of US$184 million, produced in the hard copy of The Moodie Report Print Edition, relates to the first 11 months of the year – up by +21%.)
Korean Air’s inflight business is led by Senior Vice President Catering & Inflight Sales Business Division Heather Cho, who was named one of The Moodie Report’s People of the Year in our just-published January issue of The Moodie Report Print Edition.
The Moodie Report noted in its comments: “That result was in large measure down to the tremendous leadership and vision of Ms Cho. Expect another stellar year in 2011 as the Korean economy bounces back, as the Won continues to strengthen, and as Korean Air enters a new era – it plans to launch four A380s, each with a duty free shop onboard.”
