SAUDI ARABIA. Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) has announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for food & beverage outlets in the newly-opened terminals 3 and 4 and soon-to-be-unveiled Metro concourse at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA).
The contract runs for five years and bids will close on 14 May.
The package consists of eight units covering 1,463sq m. Six are situated in prime locations in the two terminals, and two in the Metro link through which all passengers going to the airport car park and Metro station will pass.
RAC said it is seeking local or international operators with strong experience in travel-related locations. Bidders will be required to provide a balanced range of brands and dining experiences to ensure diversity, and an exceptional passenger experience, the airport company added.
These new F&B opportunities arise as KKIA continues to experience strong passenger growth early in 2023. Across January and February passenger numbers were up +12% against pre-pandemic 2019 (+22% international and +4% domestic).
Commercial sales records continue to fall at KKIA, with duty free sales up +56% year-on-year over the first two months, and +100% ahead of 2019. Other retail and F&B sales together are +24% ahead of 2022 and +39% vs. 2019.

RAC Chief Commercial Officer Abdulaziz Al Asaker said: “The continuing strength of our passenger numbers and passenger generated sales is testament to the growth strategy we have in place, and I am confident 2023 will deliver further record achievements.”
He added: “This is the perfect backdrop to be going to market with our F&B package and we look forward to some outstanding concept and unique experience proposals from the key food and beverage players in travel retail.”
