USA. Delaware North has announced Robert Thormeier as its Travel division’s new Chief Operating Officer. He will oversee the company’s foodservice and retail operations at 22 airports across the US.
Thormeier takes responsibility for developing and implementing strategic plans for growth and profitability, building strong location and corporate management teams, and enhancing client relationships.
The airports under his brief include Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.
He has been with Delaware North since 2010, beginning as the General Manager at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
Delaware North said Thormeier’s leadership skills propelled him to the role of General Manager at Comerica Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Detroit Tigers – a client since 1930.
During his tenure at Comerica Park, he oversaw all aspects of the company’s operation – concessions, premium hospitality services and retail – and he led Delaware North’s team through several high-profile events, including the World Series.
In 2016, Thormeier was promoted to Vice President of Operations for Delaware North Sportservice, based in Detroit. In this role he led operations at prominent locations such as MetLife Stadium (New Jersey), UBS Arena (Long Island), Red Bull Arena (New Jersey), Amalie Arena (Tampa), Little Caesars Arena (Detroit) and Comerica Park.
