Organisers Mandy Shine (The Moodie Report) and Rowena Holland (Essential Communications) announced today that Bahrain Duty Free has agreed to become Platinum Sponsor for the event. Salter Scales will be the Gold Sponsor and Zero Group is co-sponsoring the post-run party.

The event, being held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel on 22 November, will commence at 8am, with the organisers promising “plenty of treats and energy boosters onsite to keep everyone motivated and moving”.

They added: “Hugo Boss will be providing caps to keep the sun at bay, while Puma is donating polo shirts that participants can either run in or change into afterwards. Clarins is sponsoring us with sun protection products and MCM is donating the bags to put everything in.”

Mars, through its local office GFT, will ensure everyone gets an energy boost with Snickers, Skittles and M&M’s, and further confectionery treats are being provided by Van Melle.

Prize-giving will take place at a post-run party being hosted by John Sime and Mandy Shine with medals generously donated by Ray and Christine Martin of TRT. Wine [after the run -Ed] is being provided by Jacobs Creek, and Uluvka vodka martinis will be on hand for those needing something stronger [possibly during the run -Ed].

During the evening runners will have the chance to win some fabulous prizes including two Virgin business class tickets plus a two-night stay at the Hudson Hotel in Manhattan, donated by Max Williams of Ultra Marine. Prizes have also been donated by The Brand Distillery (Uluvka), Godiva, Jacky’s Gulf and Timex.

Runners have been training with the help of Puma Cardiac watches provided by Scorpio Distributors and, though there have been reports of minor strains and injuries (read the Running for Smiles Blog), the organisers are still confident of a full contingent of 50 on the day.
