San Francisco Airport confirms Boarding Area E concessions

USA. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has secured a strong local flavour to retail and food & beverage concessions for its remodelled Boarding Area E.

Confirmed retail concessions are an Xpress Spa outlet, a Tech Connect technology services and accessories store managed by ILJ San Francisco, an Indulge chocolates and candy kiosk from Pacific Gateway Concessions, a newsstand run by Skyline Concessions (Millbrae) and a Marilla Chocolate Company store.

SFO will confirm two pop-up retail concessions for the area in September.

In food & beverage, Boarding Area E will host a Dogpatch Bakehouse Café (concessionaire Guava & Java), Urban Tortilla (Luna Azul Corp.), Klein’s Deli Café (J.Avery Enteprises) and Mission Bar and Grill outlet (from BJ Annex).

SFO plans to open the repurposed Boarding Area E in January 2014, as part of the US$4.1 billion upgrade plan it unveiled in late May.

The airport aims to create an improved travel experience with natural lighting, uninterrupted views and thoughtfully located retail and dining areas.

Boarding Area E features a raised ‘information terrace’ that serves as the physical point of entry, leading through retail and dining venues offering uninterrupted views, with glass walls and skyligts for ample natural lighting.

Additional goals for the US$114 million remodelling include increased space for waiting passengers, a series of journey points, and an emphasis on sustainability.
