CHINA. Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex, including CDF Mall, has been shut until further notice from today at 14.00 due to two more confirmed COVID-19 cases being discovered in Sanya City.
Hainan Hinews Media Company reported the news today across multiple platforms including New Hainan, Hinews and Nanguo Metropolis Daily. The publishing house is The Moodie Davitt Report’s exclusive strategic partner in Hainan province.
During the temporary suspension of business, management will carry out comprehensive disinfection and implement a thorough exercise in prevention and control under the guidance of the epidemic prevention and control department, the report said.
CDF Mall and China Tourism Group (parent company of China Duty Free Group) said in an announcement (pictured right): “Dear Customers, CDF Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex is temporarily closed starting from 2pm today (March 3) to prevent and control COVID-19.
“The time of reopening would be subject to government requirements on COVID-19 prevention and control. We will do our best to update information and process the return of goods caused by flight cancellations and rescheduling.
“We kindly advise you to visit our Mini Program or official app (CDF Hainan Duty Free) during store closure, which offers a hassle-free, safer delivery to your doorstep. Please accept our sincerest apology for the inconvenience caused.”
As reported, Sanya City implemented strict closure and control management measures in multiple locations after a single COVID-19 case involving a visitor from Tianjin was confirmed on 28 February. Her mother-in-law and daughter, who also visited Sanya, has subsequently also been confirmed as being asymptomatically positive.
Hainan province has remained largely COVID-free throughout the pandemic and local authorities have moved swiftly to keep it that way.
