Savary introduces World Wines retail concept

ARGENTINA. Savary Argentina, which introduced an Argentinean wine concept to travel retailers at the 2009 TFWA World Exhibition, has launched an additional concept that showcases wines from across the world.

Top wine maker Michel Rolland is collaborating in the World Wines project

At the 2010 IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in February, the company introduced its new World Wines branded concept, which revolves around wines from ten countries, including France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Greece, South Africa and Chile. Some 48 different wines are available.

World Wines will operate along similar lines to Savary’s Argentine Wines concept, with special fixtures, merchandising guidelines and promotions.

World Wines features products from globally recognised French wine maker Michel Rolland, called The Rolland Collection. Wines from another respected wine expert, François Lurton, are also available, among other top lines.

“We want to bring [travel retailers] a wine solution [for their stores]. We want to give an experience and launch different products,” Savary Argentina Marketing and Sales Manager Marcelo Bujan Kalustian told The Moodie Report during the Orlando fair.

Savary has installed both wine concepts in Interbaires (Duty Free Argentina), Navinten (Duty Free Uruguay), and it is going to start working with retailers in Guayaquil, Armenia and Guatemala. Discussions with other duty free operators are under way in the US, Europe and the Middle East, said Bujan.

Also at the Orlando show, Savary introduced its new Patagonian water product, Lauquen, in a frosted glass bottle, for which Savary has the distribution rights.

Savary’s Argentine Wines concept is already trading with Interbaires at Ezeiza International and other airports.

At the time of the launch of Argentine Wines last year, Savary General Manager Manuel Aubone, formerly Marketing Manager of Interbaires, said: “Interbaires helped us develop this concept, and gave us all their support from day one. We are very pleased that we could receive all this knowledge from them in order to export not only the best products of our country, but also years of experience on how to offer and merchandise them.”

The company presented at the 2009 Cannes show a portfolio of wines selected from the finest of every wine-producing region in Argentina, from Cafayate (Salta) in the north to Patagonia in the South, including the famous region, Mendoza.

Malbec and Torrontés are the main focus of Savary’s Argentine Wines offer, each chosen as the best representation of Argentine red and white wine varietals respectively.

Food for Wine concept

Besides wines, Savary also offers handmade confectionery products from Argentinean company Havanna.

Savary also introduced at Cannes a delicatessen line under the Food for Wine concept, designed to satisfy the international gourmet market.

Produced with raw materials collected at the foot of the Andes Mountains, the delicatessen products offer “a perfect marriage” when paired with its most representative wines, Savary said.
