Scorpio brings Hot Diamonds to Orlando as sales take off in Europe

Scorpio Worldwide will present the new Hot Diamonds jewellery and watch range at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in April (Stand number: 1031).

The Hot Diamonds jewellery line combines sterling silver and real diamonds. Each piece is rhodium-plated for shine and protection – a key selling point for customers looking for a product with a quality finish, Scorpio claimed.

According to Scorpio, Hot Diamonds is well suited for sale in airports, cruise ships and border stores – the company can provide retailers with a fully branded floor unit or in-counter display case to complete the in-store sales experience.

Scorpio Worldwide Global Travel Retail Director Garry Stoner stated: “We have been delighted at the initial uptake and off-counter sales – for example in Europe, World Duty Free Group and Heinemann have listed the brand.”

New for 2013 is the Hot Diamonds watch collection for women. Initially available in four styles, each Hot Diamonds watch is made from stainless steel, set with a diamond at the 12-hour point, and finished with an Italian leather strap. Each has three-hand quartz movement and comes with an international warranty.

Besides Hot Diamonds, Scorpio will showcase novelties from other brands in its portfolio ranging from watches and jewellery to makeup and plush toys.

The Lip Smackers lip balm products draw inspiration from the Coca Cola, Fanta and Sprite soft drink brands. Sold in exclusive travel retail gifting tins of three or six units – a great value gift, Scorpio said.

For the first time in Orlando, Scorpio will offer the limited edition Sturmanskie watch to its travel retail customers. The Sturmanskie brand was worn by the first astronaut in space back in 1961 – Yuri Gagarin.

Not available to the public when it first appeared on the market, the Sturmanskie watch was standard issue for Soviet pilots because it offered precise and reliable functions under extreme conditions and weightlessness. Initially launched for inflight sales, Scorpio is now bringing the brand to retail stores, priced from US$149 to US$169.

“We first introduced the Sturmanskie brand to inflight at the TFWA World Exhibition last year and were staggered at the response from buyers – it is an amazing brand with an incredibly history and is totally appropriate for the travel retail market,” Scorpio Worldwide Group Sales and Marketing Director Richard Kennedy said.

“We’re delighted to now expand distribution to the travel retail market in general and firmly believe it will be a highlight for 2013, alongside our incredibly successful Aviator collection.”

With extensive airline listings globally, Scorpio’s Aviator range is exclusively designed and manufactured for travel retail. The brand’s latest collections for men and women will be presented at the Orlando show.

Aviator is listed with over 30 global retailers in more than 95 locations throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the Americas. Fully branded Aviator retail displays are available; when floor space is not offered, Scorpio also offers in-counter merchandise units.

Pierre Cardin, also exclusive to travel retail, will launch its latest range of jewellery and gift sets, including bracelets, necklaces, earrings and watches.

The brand offers assortments for both inflight and travel retail – the latter comes with floor fixtures and countertop display units. All pieces are said to be hypoallergenic and nickel release compliant, and come in packaging suitable for both airlines and ground shops.

New from Scorpio’s in-house brand of Just plush toys is the “˜Scented Bear’ Collection infused with aromatic beads that emit four different scents: Chocolate, Strawberry, Cotton Candy and Mint.

“The Just brand’s key selling point is that it is exclusive to travel retail, offers unique designs using the highest quality materials and focuses both value and key retail price points. In Orlando we will be introducing a number of new models, all available to retailers through our seamless supply chain,” said Stoner.
