CHINA. Shenzhen Duty Free Group (SDFG) has been awarded a contract to operate the departures duty-free store at the Pazhou-Hong Kong–Macau Passenger Ferry Terminal (Pazhou Terminal).
It marks what the retailer calls “a significant milestone in its expansion across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area”.
Located on the Zhujiang River in central Guangzhou, Pazhou Terminal is the city’s only cross-border waterway port and a key transportation hub linking the region.
With just a ten-minute walk to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and a two-hour direct ferry ride to Hong Kong International Airport, the terminal plays a key role in supporting Guangzhou’s exhibition industry and strengthening the city’s global connectivity.

The upcoming Phase II of Pazhou Terminal centres on launching a new ferry route to Macau International Airport, which in turn is expected to bring a broader flow of travellers to the duty-free store.
The future expansion is set to strengthen the synergy between duty-free retail and the exhibition economy, further energising regional consumption, SDFG said.
SDFG said securing the rights to the Pazhou Terminal departures duty free store underscores the group’s commitment to its core business and its active role as a state-owned enterprise in supporting China’s opening-up and Greater Bay Area integration {main story continues beneath the subscription communication that follows}.
This project strengthens the group’s presence in Guangzhou’s duty-free sector and enhances coordination across procurement and marketing, supporting high-quality growth, the company noted.
It is also set to boost the region’s consumer economy both in scale and substance, elevate the tourism retail experience and inject fresh momentum into building a globally influential consumption hub.
The retailer said: “Leveraging our extensive brand portfolio, sophisticated supply chain and professional operations team, Shenzhen Duty Free Group is committed to aligning with national efforts to boost consumption.
“By optimising product offerings and enhancing service capabilities, we aim to build a high-quality, competitively priced retail platform.”
SDFG has pledged to position the Pazhou Terminal store as a strategic anchor, and cultivate a dynamic cycle where new demand and new supply continuously reinforce one another, ultimately elevating the quality of port-based duty-free operations in the region. 🛳️
