Shinsegae festive spectacle returns to Myeong-dong with immersive media façade and holiday themes

Shinsegae’s media façade combines festive spectacle and shopper appeal, attracting visitors to explore further

SOUTH KOREA. Shinsegae Department Store marked the start of the festive season on 7 November with the launch of its dazzling Christmas media façade, displayed on the massive LED screen known as Shinsegae Square at its Myeong-dong flagship in Seoul.

The spectacular visual, titled ‘A Magical World Connecting Time’, is complemented by a holiday campaign at Shinsegae Duty Free within the same complex, themed ‘Magical Voyage’, inviting travellers to experience immersive festive displays and interactive digital experiences.

Illuminating the Seoul skyline, Shinsegae transforms Myeong-dong into a sparkling holiday scene

Shinsegae Duty Free will keep the festive momentum going with holiday promotions and exclusive gifts starting on 14 November.

The media façade will run every night from 5pm to midnight, adding to the festive atmosphere throughout the holiday period.

This year’s showcase builds on last year’s success, with more than 1 million people visiting Shinsegae Square, establishing it as one of Seoul’s holiday destinations.

The three-minute show highlights Puvilla, the brand’s character, guiding viewers through a Christmas setting of ornaments, jewellery and a festive dinner table before closing with golden fireworks and the message, ‘Wonder All the Way’.

To enhance visual appeal, the façade has been expanded by 61.3sq m, now totalling 1,353.64sq m, larger than three basketball courts.

The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra lends a symphonic soundtrack to the showcase, reinterpreting classic carols and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, recorded at Prague’s iconic Dvořák Hall.

The show uses an anamorphic technique, giving viewers the sense of sitting at the festive table or being surrounded by fireworks.

A Shinsegae spokesperson said: “Our goal is to fill every Shinsegae moment with happiness and inspiration. With artistry and originality, we hope to make our stores and squares the must-visit destinations of the season.”
