Singapore Changi records strong September numbers – 20/10/05

SINGAPORE. Singapore Changi Airport handled 2.65 million passengers in September, an increase of +8.7% over the same month last year.

Between January and September 2005, Changi received 23.8 million passengers, representing a +7.5% climb over the corresponding period in 2004.

The demand for air travel increased during the weekends before as well as after the recent school holidays, which fell between 5 and 10 September.

In other news, Changi handled 160 thousand tonnes of airfreight last month, a rise of +2.8% compared with September 2004. As a whole, the airport handled 1.34 million tonnes of air cargo between January and September 2005, or +2% more than the same period last year.

Changi is currently served by 81 airlines connecting to 181 cities in 56 countries, with more than 3,900 weekly flights.
