HONG KONG. Hong Kong SkyMart, the key Terminal 1 retail facility of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), is this month hosting a one-off display featuring a Krug Trunk, one of just 30 in the world.
Throughout February the Trunk will be on show for visitors and available for sale at HK$350,000 (US$45,000) at Sky Connection’s Free Duty Shop in the restricted area of the Level 6 Departure Hall.
The limited edition Krug Trunk is a collaboration between renowned Champagne producer House of Krug and French leathergoods and accessories maker Pinel & Pinel.
Requiring almost 700 hours each to handcraft, a Krug Trunk is claimed to “epitomize the concept of exclusive luxury”. The Trunk features a dark brown foal-effect calfskin exterior, as well as nickel-plated brass mounted hinges and durable handles that are capable of withstanding journeys across continents. It bears the Krug signature in nickel-plated lettering on its door, and may also be customised with the owner’s name or coat of arms.
Each Krug Trunk comes with 88 accessories by world-class designers and labels, including Dunhill; Rina Ménardi; François Bauchet for Ercuis; Fred Danner for Werk Metal Fabrik, WMF; Guy Degrennes; Yan Pennor’s for Laguiole; William Bonds and Daniel Eltner. The Trunk’s door can also be taken out and transformed into a small table.
